Effective advocacy to protect the interests of members

The starting point of Loimu’s advocacy work is to look after its members’ terms of employment. We work on multiple fronts to protect our members’ interests in working life. Loimu is actively involved in the advocacy work of the trade union confederation Akava, the Federation of Professional and Managerial Staff YTN and the Negotiation Organisation for Public Sector Professionals JUKO, as well as local advocacy work.

Our employment relationship advisory services assist our members in all matters related to labour law, including:

  • Reviewing employment contracts
  • Working abroad
  • Working time and annual holidays
  • Family leave
  • Statutory cooperation within undertakings
  • Termination of employment and temporary lay-offs
  • Unemployment benefits

Loimu has a negotiator for each employer sector. The negotiators specialise in advocacy work, agreements and matters specific to their respective sectors. They are expert advisors in matters related to employment relationships ready to help you to understand your rights and obligations as an employee.

Loimu can provide you with advice on how to resolve problems at the workplace, and you can also receive negotiation assistance if necessary. If negotiations fail to produce the desired outcome, the dispute can be brought to a court of law with the help of the union’s legal expenses insurance.

Many workplaces have rules and local agreements containing provisions on matters such as working hours, fringe benefits, travel allowance and social benefits. The best experts on workplace-specific issues are workplace representatives and contact persons, i.e. JUKO/YTN representatives.
