Alongside nine other Akava’s member unions*, The Union of Professionals in Natural, Environmental and Forestry Sciences Loimu will conduct a survey on the prevalence of sexual harassment, sexism and gender discrimination experienced by people with a higher degree of education in the working life. This survey will be carried out in collaboration with the unions, as in most work communities, people with a higher degree of education represent different sectors and unions. The survey will also provide results which are only relevant to the Loimu.
In the spirit of the #metoo campaign, we want to clarify the actual extent, nature and character of problems related to harassment, sexism and discrimination at the workplace among of membership. We will also clarify whether or not the issue was tackled and, if it was, how. At the end of the survey, you can also provide your own suggestions on what unions could do to end sexual harassment and gender discrimination.
The survey was sent to 6 500 student and actual members of Loimu randomly sampled from the members’ register. If you are one of them, please devote a moment of your time to respond to the questions of the survey! It will only take around 10–20 minutes.
