Loimu is the trade union of professionals and students of natural, environmental and forestry sciences. As a fresher, you get Loimu’s student membership without the unemployment fund free of charge! You can join immediately after accepting your study place.

Did you know? It is socially accepted to be a trade union member in Finland! There are over 600 000 highly educated union members in Finland. Many of whom have joined already as students. You should join too!

Loimu has approximately 5,500 student members and the majors they represent include for example aquatic sciences, biochemistry, biology, biomedicine, cell and molecular biology, chemistry, computer science, data science, ecology, environmental sciences, forestry sciences, geography, geology, geophysics, mathematics, meteorology, microbiology, physics, statistics, sustainable development and numerous others majors in natural, environmental and forestry sciences. Fresher membership is free until the end of the year following the start of your studies, after which it automatically upgrades to the Student level. You can choose this membership if you have started your Bachelor’s or University of Applied Sciences degree studies in the current academic year.
