Settlement proposal in the university collective agreement dispute
National Conciliator Anu Sajavaara has presented a settlement proposal in the university collective agreement dispute on Monday, May 19th.
The parties have been asked to respond by Wednesday, May 21st, at 11:00.
JUKO’s university negotiation council (yliopistoneuvottelukunta) and board will review the proposal on Tuesday. JUKO will announce its position after the National Conciliator.
If no agreement is reached on employment terms and salary increases before May 27th, a 24-hour strike by JUKO, Pro, and JHL will begin at the University of Helsinki and the University of Turku.
Negotiations on the university collective agreement began at the start of February. Key issues in dispute include salary increases and a teaching hour cap that protects teaching and research staff from excessive workloads.
A total of 35,000 people work at Finland’s thirteen universities.
