Your life situation is taken into account in Loimu’s membership fee
Loimu’s membership fee is an annual fee, and different life situations are taken into consideration. A member can apply for a discount on the membership fee, for example due to low income, a grant-funded period, or family leave.
The membership fee is invoiced with a separate invoice, which you will receive either as a paper invoice by mail or electronically as an e-invoice or MobilePay invoice. A paper invoice can be paid either in one or four instalments. Paper invoices were mailed at the beginning of February, and the due date for the first instalment – or for the full annual fee – was at the end of February. All instalments are included on the same invoice, so we do not send new invoices for each instalment.
We warmly recommend switching to electronic invoicing
An e-invoice is the easiest way to take care of your membership fee. At the same time, you help reduce paper mail. You can set up an e‑invoice agreement in your online bank. E‑invoicing will begin at the start of the next calendar month or, if you have already paid the full annual fee, at the beginning of the next year.
If there are changes in your life situation that affect your membership fee, the fee will be updated from the beginning of the month following the processing of your discount application.
E‑invoicing changes the membership fee billing into monthly instalments, but you can always pay the full annual fee by editing the invoice amount.
Discounts on the membership fee
There are four discount categories, three of which are based on gross income:
Discount category 1 (gross income under 2900 euroa): membership fee 24.25 euros / month
Discount category 2 (gross income under 2401 euroa): membership fee 16.25 euros / month
Discount category 3 (gross income under 1800 euroa): membership fee 11.50 euros / month
The fourth discount category applies to members with dual membership in the Finnish Union of University Professors, full‑time entrepreneurs / farmers, and members living abroad. The membership fee is 16.25 euros / month.
How to apply for a discount
You can apply for a discount using the discount application form available in the OmaLoimu e‑service, under the Membership fees section. First select the discount category and then the grounds for the discount. Discount applications are processed by Member services. Once your application has been processed, you will receive a notification in OmaLoimu.
